The NAHB Remodelers Council, in collaboration with AARP, NAHB Research Center and NAHB 50+ Housing Council developed the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) program to provide comprehensive information about working with older and maturing adults to remodel their homes for aging-in-place. This certification is achieved through eduction training and testing using a multi-course program. A CAPS Specialist understands the unique needs of the older adult population and is knowledgeable about aging-in-place home modifications, common remodeling projects, and solutions to barriers.
